What I Do
workshops
1 / Workshop Site-Specific Performance
Audience: Actors and Dancers
A Series of 7 Sessions with the Director, Dramaturg, and Curator Lilach Dekel-Avneri.
During these sessions, we will embark on a selective journey between artistic stations of site-specific performances - held at a specific time and place - that will serve as case studies
and sources of inspiration. This journey will combine awareness and observation of various practices, with hands-on practice and experimentation. The workshop will focus on the genre of site-specific performances, where an artist or performer, or a group of performers, use their bodies to create a public status and legitimacy for the body, according to the place and space of the performance.
The goal of the course is to enrich and provide practical experience in the process of creation in the public space, integrating artistic research.
Duration of the workshop: 7 Sessions, Each session can range from 3 to 6 hours, depending on the group and the concluding event.
Experience:
The workshop has been delivered annually since 2022 to the students at the interdisciplinary program as part of “HAMASLUL” - a training program for dancers.
The workshop was held as a summer course at the University of Haifa in 2024 for theater students.
2 / History Now
Audience: Actors and Dancers
A practical research workshop with theater creator Lilach Dekel Avneri, in which we will experience working with ready-made historical textual materials and the here and now of the performer.
In the workshop we will reconnect to our responsibility as creators to bring history to the stage and examine it using contemporary tools, we will experience working with various historical materials such as testimonies, protocols, and works of art from the same period, which will create a post-dramatic textual outline, and we will combine them with personal materials in the tradition of Devised Theater.
The workshop may also include acting for the camera.

Experience:
The workshop was conducted in Kosovo in October 2022, and after three weeks, we presented a 50-minute performance.
See the link for additional information about the production.
3 / "Theatre of language": On Post-dramatic drama.
Audience: Actors and Dancers
In this workshop we will talk about post-dramatic principles as they were defined by Hans-Thies Lehmann in his groundbreaking text: Post-dramatic Theatre (1999), and new dramaturgy such as has been celebrated in: "Attempts on her life" by Martin Crimp, "4:48 Psychosis" by Sarah Kane and "Amsterdam" by Maya-Arad-Yasur. We will taste this new paradigm, and its main characteristics such as the end of characters, their replacement by "landscapes of consciousness" and the core idea of - presenting and not representing.
Experience:
The workshop was successfully conducted at the University of Southern California (USC) in 2019.
Duration of the workshop: can range from 2 to 4 hours
