EichmanN Project - Terminal 1
Through the trial, Pathos Mathos examines the upheavals of the current time of systematic collapse, reminding us of Hannah Arendt’s warning, which currently seems more relevant than ever, about the dangers of obedience without criticism or thought, which seem more relevant than ever. The trial and the personal stories will bring to the fore the profound questions concerning the conditions that facilitate a certain (social and cultural) reality and how we can resist them.
Inspired by the radio show “When Eichamann entered our home,” which first aired in 2002 and presented accounts of people whose lives had changed after the trial, RJ Dori Ben-Zeev will lead us through archival, media, and academic materials, as well as personal testimonies. The audience will be invited to settle into the role of the witness, delve into the various narratives that came up in the trial, trace the mechanisms of theater, which were shaken following the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, and search together for a safe haven during this tumultuous time.
60 years after David Ben-Gurion’s dramatic announcement of Adolf Eichmann’s capture, Pathos Mathos Company revisits one of the seminal events in the history of Israel – the Eichmann trial. The Eichmann Project – Terminal 1 is a multidisciplinary stage event – a ritual of reenactment for camera and audience, invoking the voices that resonated in 1961 at Beit Ha’am (now the Gerard Behar Center) in Jerusalem, and returning to the public storm that followed the trial.
In Lilach Dekel-Avneri's new work "Eichmann project – Terminal 1", Phathos Mathos' first production adapted especially for the screen, Dekel-Avneri uses cinematic language to communicate her work both as a theatre director and as a director of the cameras
Dekel Avneri, known for challenging the stage-audience relationship, harnesses the absence of the live audience during Covid-19, and creates a new bond between the performers and audience via the camera, thus giving rise to a new art form, a hybrid between Theatre and Cinema

בהשראת תוכנית הרדיו "כשאייכמן נכנס אלינו הביתה", ששודרה לראשונה ב-2002 והביאה עדויות מפיהם של אנשים שונים שחייהם השתנו בעקבות המשפט, יוביל אותנו השדרן דורי בן זאב בין חומרי הארכיון, העדויות האישיות, המחקרים וחומרי התקשורת של המשפט. הקהל יוזמן להתמקם בתפקיד העד, לצלול אל הנרטיבים השונים שעלו במשפט, להיחשף לפעולתה של מכונת התיאטרון שמנגנוניה עברו טלטלה בעקבות ההגבלות שתבעה המגיפה ולחפש ביחד עם היוצרים אחר חוף מבטחים בתקופה טרופה זו.
קבוצת "פאתוס מאתוס" בוחנת באמצעות המשפט את טלטלת התקופה הנוכחית המאופיינת בקריסת מערכות, ומזכירה לנו את אזהרתה של חנה ארנדט בדבר הסכנה שבציות ללא מחשבה וביקורת, אזהרה שנראית היום רלוונטית מתמיד.
מתוך המגע עם המשפט ועם הסיפורים האישיים, תשוב ותצוף השאלה העמוקה והרחבה הן בדבר התנאים שמאפשרים למציאות מסוימת (חברתית ותרבותית) להתקיים וכיצד באפשרותנו להתנגד.
60 שנה לאחר הצהרתו הדרמטית של דוד בן-גוריון על לכידתו של אדולף אייכמן, קבוצת "פאתוס מאתוס" חוזרת אל אחד המשפטים המדוברים ביותר בתולדות ישראל – משפט אייכמן.
פרויקט אייכמן-טרמינל 1 הוא אירוע בימתי רב-תחומי – טקס שחזור למצלמה ולקהל המאפשר להשמיע מחדש את אותם קולות שהדהדו בשנת 1961 במשכן "בית העם" (כיום מרכז ז'ראר בכר) בירושלים, ולשוב להוריקן הציבורי שהגיע בעקבות המשפט.
ביצירתה החדשה של לילך דקל אבנרי פרוייקט אייכמן – טרמינל 1, ההפקה הראשונה של פאתוס-מאתוס למצלמה, דקל-אבנרי משתמשת בשפה קולנועית לתקשר את היצירה, הן כבימאית תאטרון והן כבימאית מצלמות. כמי שמאתגרת בעבודתה את יחסי הקהל-במה, דקל-אבנרי רותמת את היעדרות הקהל בימי הקורונה, ומייצרת קשר חדש בין הפרפורמרים לקהל באמצעות המצלמה, וכך נולדת צורת אמנות חדשה, הנעה בין תאטרון לקולנוע.
המופע עלה בבכורה עולמית בפסטיבל ישראל, ירושליים 2020. טרמינל 1, צולם בחודש ספטמבר, בסטודיו של מחול שלם, במרכז לאמנויות הבמה הפרסה, תלפיות ירושליים. אורך המופע שעה ועשרים.
